Terroir
The sub-region of Monção has a very specific microclimate, and uses Alvarinho as its main grape variety, which its extreme wines are the ex-libris of this sub region. The soils here are mainly granitic and vines grow exposed to the sun, favoring the further maturity of the grapes. The micro-climate is noted for cold winters with average rainfall, while summers are hot and dry, which shows limited influence from the Atlantic. The sub-region runs along the south bank of the river Minho in an area of half-slopes.
Conservation
The ideal storage is to keep it on a cool, dark and humid place, with balanced thermal amplitudes around 12 to 14ºC and 65-70% of humidity, for the best chance for long-term survival and optimal aging of the wine.

Alvarinho

Alvarinho is one of the most noble white grape varieties in Portugal, and is mostly grown in the Minho River valley.

Alvarinho vines produce few bunches of small round berries, which give rise to intense wines, with hints of citrus and tropic fruit.

They are full-bodied wines, with beautiful freshness and acidity, which helps them mature well in the bottle.
